Mark your calendars! On May 24, 2014 Earth will pass through a cloud of debris from comet 209P/LINEAR. This means we could see a new meteor shower! Experts predict rates up to 200 per hour when Earth crosses the dust trail of the comet. There is even talk about a potential meteor storm. These storms are rare and can occur if Earth passes through a particularly thick clump within a meteor stream. If this happens we will see even more meteors than usual.
