An Italian art detective and his team are getting close to solving the mystery of identifying “Mona Lisa.” Three bodies were unearthed from a Florentine crypt including Lisa Gheradini’s  husband, Francesco del  Giocondo and their son and her stepson.

If DNA testing reveals a link between the remains in the Florentine family crypt and the body recovered from a Florence convent last year (believed to be Lisa Gheradini), then scientists may be able to reconstruct Gheradini’s face using bone fragments and finally reveal the true identity of the woman behind the famous painting.

With the mystery solved, do you think that the illustrious and loved portrait will still retain its celebrity status?
