Forecast Predicts: 100% Chance of Snow at Arizona Science Center

Local Science Center’s Annual Snow Week Event Returns to Downtown Phoenix this December 

 

PHOENIX, December 16, 2024 – A cold front is moving towards Phoenix and it’s headed straight towards Arizona Science Center for the return of its 13th Annual Snow Week from Thursday, Dec. 26 through Wednesday, Jan. 1. With a blizzard of activities, Arizona Science Center blends curiosities for learning with the icy fun of snow, creating a science-filled winter wonderland in the heart of the desert. From the Snow Hill to subzero science and flurries of demonstrations, Snow Week offers the perfect spot for a family outing to keep the holiday spirit alive.

Throughout the week, Guests can participate in snowy favorites including sledding down the Snow Hill, enjoying live dazzling demonstrations, exploring an avalanche of STEAM-themed activities, building in the SnowPal Construction Zone, catching the Snow Week-exclusive Fire n’ Ice SNOWdown and more. Plus, CREATE at Arizona Science Center® will open at 9:30 a.m. throughout Snow Week to delve deeper into the wonders of snow through hands-on crafts.

Member-Only Hours: 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. daily

Public Hours: 10:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. daily

COST: Snow Week activities are included FREE with all Arizona Science Center Memberships, General Admission and All-Inclusive tickets. Children under 3 are always FREE.

Snow Hill: Grab your gloves and sleds and head over to Snow Hill located in Heritage Square outside the main entrance of the Science Center. 

Dazzling Demonstrations: Enjoy Blue Crew’s Dazzling Demonstrations at the Daniel Cracchiolo Theater at select times throughout the day beginning at 10:20 a.m.

Science of Ice and Snow Curiosity Cart Activities: From snowball launches and ice fishing to winter scent guessing and Insta snow, the curiosity cart is filled with captivating activities to get your brainstorming.

SnowPals Construction Zone: Grab your hard hat and put your building skills to the test in the SnowPals Construction Zone located at DeBell Water Atrium on level 1.

Clouds of Fun: Have you ever wondered what happens when boiling water meets liquid nitrogen? We’ve got the answer at Clouds of Fun located outside the main entrance of Arizona Science Center.

Fire n’ Ice SNOWdown: Learn all about what happens when fire and ice meet at the Daniel Cracchiolo Theater daily at 11:20 a.m. and 2:20 p.m.

Chill Zone: Located on level 3's SRP Canyon Terrace, ‘Yule’ love these reindeer games! Spend some quality time with your crew while you explore giant bowling, life-size chess, corn-hole and Connect Four.
