Virtual Science Fair | March 28 - April 2, 2022

300+ judges are needed!

Judging for Elementary, Junior, and Senior Divisions will take place between Monday, March 28, and Friday, April 1.  Responsibilities of judging include reviewing all assigned projects prior to the scheduled interviews, interviewing the students, and attending discussion meetings with the other judges in the same division/category. All judges will receive training prior to judging and will need access to a computer, laptop, or other devices that allow them to access student projects digitally as well as interview students through a virtual platform. We do ask that judges have a minimum of 2 years of college or a degree in any field. There is a high need for judges with advanced degrees and experience to judge in the Senior Division.

Even though this year’s fair is being held virtually, there is still a need for 75-100 volunteers! Volunteer opportunities include serving as:

  • Display & Safety Team - responsibilities include reviewing assigned projects prior to the beginning of AzSEF to ensure they adhere to specific guidelines. Assignment projects will need to be reviewed between March 15 - March 21, 2022.
  • Interview Room Monitor - responsibilities include joining scheduled interviews to help mitigate audio or video concerns and to monitor interactions between students and judges. Individuals with Fingerprint Clearance Cards are encouraged to register!
  • Awards and Participant SWAG box dissemination - responsibilities include packing boxes for participants that include awards received and various items provided by sponsors and vendors.

Judging for all divisions will require judges to review and score the uploaded project presentations prior to student interviews. During the interview sessions, you will have the opportunity to ask clarifying questions and make any adjustments if needed.

Interviews for each division are scheduled for the following dates. More detailed schedules will be provided the closer we get to AzSEF.

Elementary Division (grades 5 & 6) - Monday & Tuesday, March 28 & 29, 2022

Junior DIvision (grades 7& 8) - Tuesday & Wednesday, March 29 & 30, 2022

Senior Division (grades 9-12) - Wednesday - Friday, March 30 - April 1, 2022

The following schedule is tentative and may be modified based on the number of student projects.
