Volunteer at Arizona Science Center
You don’t have to be a scientist to volunteer at Arizona Science Center! If you are 15 years or older, outgoing, love engaging with people of all ages and have a passion for STEM, we would love to have you! Volunteers will be given the opportunity to work in exhibitions, assist with demonstrations and practice our guiding principle to enrich all communities and audiences through science.
Volunteering with Arizona Science Center provides individuals or groups the opportunity to give back to the community. Volunteer positions are available during normal business hours, in the evening and on the weekends. Please join us in providing a positive experience for our Guests and apply to volunteer today!
Volunteer Opportunities
Do you consider yourself a people person? Are you energetic and always happy to provide a resource? Volunteering with our Guest Sales and Services Team might be right for you!
- Assist with providing exceptional customer service to Guests.
- Greet and guide Guests around the Center as needed.
- Assist with seating inside the Dorrance Planetarium and Irene P. Flinn Giant Screen Theater.
Are you someone who thrives by organizing data? Do you enjoy spending time behind a computer coordinating information? We could use your skills!
- Assist with data entry, research or clerical tasks
Are you a certified amateur radio operator or a person who is interested in becoming one? Are you interested in leading activities with Guests that would introduce them to the science behind radios? Join our Team!
- Facilitate amateur radio themed activities with Guests in Arizona Science Center's Harkins Ham Shack.
Could you imagine yourself operating laser cutting machines and 3D printers? Are you interested in facilitating activities with Guests that would allow them to explore STEAM in a way that they never imagined? Join our CREATE-ive Team!
- Greet CREATE Guests and assist with activity zones.
- Prepare activity materials.
- Assist with preparing special projects.
Do you love sharing your passion for science with other people? Assist with facilitating fun, engaging STEM activities for Arizona Science Center Guests!
- Assist with preparing stage demonstrations.
- Facilitate interactive activities.
- Assist with preparing materials for educational events.
Arizona Science Center's Girls in STEM initiative aims to spark an excitement for STEM among girls in grades 4-8. We always have a need for passionate STEM professionals around Arizona to help inspire the next generation of #GirlsInSTEM!
- Facilitate engaging activities.
- Speak on your field of expertise.
- Assist with event logistics like check-in, check-out, clean-up and participant experience.
Commitment Levels
We recognize that life is ever-changing—and flexibility is key! Arizona Science Center's Volunteer Program is willing to work with any type of commitment, from scheduled shifts for those looking for volunteer hours to single-day volunteer opportunities for corporate groups.
Core Volunteer
Core Volunteers have weekly, recurring shifts 1-7 days per week. The Volunteer can select the day(s) they would like to come in. Tasks vary between shifts and department needs.
Event Volunteer
Event Volunteers can volunteer their time as needed for special projects. The Volunteer will assist with any special event preparation, day-of assistance and more.
Corporate Groups
Does your organization have an organized volunteer or community impact day? Arizona Science Center is always looking for corporate groups looking to make a difference! These groups can assist with special projects, event preparation and day-of event assistance.

Steps To Become A Volunteer
- Must be 15 years or older
- Complete a volunteer application
- Complete a phone interview
- Attend a volunteer orientation
- Commit to a minimum of 24 hours of volunteer service
